Engine and vehicle specifications
The engine of the Opel Olympia has changed with the times as the technology continued to be enhanced. The engine specifications of the 1950 model of Opel Olympia include a 4- cylinder 1488cc engine that produced a power of 37 hp @ 3500 rpm. This enabled the vehicle to reach a top speed of 112 km/h, which was relatively good in those times. The vehicle’s 3- speed column change transmission ensures swift gear change as you cruise through the streets.
The body specifications of the Opel Olympia were length of 4050, width of 1564 and a height of 1580 mm. It comprised a unitary chassis and the drum brakes ensured the vehicle came to a good stop whenever needed. This gave the vehicle an impressive body that was greatly admired by many.
The vehicles steel body ensured that it lasted for many years without the need for constant bodywork which is the common trend for most of the vehicles that are in the market today. The new models included a convertible, estate and a saloon. They were all 2-door and the price ranged between 6400 to 7350 Deutsche Mark.
