The Opel Olympia just like any other car met competition from other automakers. One of the vehicles in the market that slowed down the sales of the Opel is the Volkswagen beetle which was also made from Germany. This small sized family car took on the Opel with great competition and a lot of loss of sales of the Opel can be contributed to it. Even so, the Opel surely had a more modern body than the Beetle. Later on, the Ford escort and Volkswagen golf provided more competition for the Opel Kadett, a successor of the Opel Olympia.
Rivalry to become the market leader took on into the United States with great car wars between Opel and The Volkswagen Beetle. Nevertheless, Opel has maintained a strong lead in the car manufacturing industry and has proved to be a force to reckon with. Although some of the old models are no longer in the market. There are new modern ranges of vehicles that bear the Opel Logo.
